Node
A node is any computer running blockchain software and taking part in the network by relaying transactions and blocks. Nodes check that incoming data follows the networks rules and pass valid information on to their peers, which keeps the system decentralised rather than reliant on a single server. Nodes differ in how much history and verification they handle.
A common misconception is that every node mines or earns rewards; many simply validate and relay data without producing blocks. Running a node lets a participant independently verify the chain instead of trusting a third party.
