Off-ramp

An off-ramp is a service or process that converts cryptocurrency back into traditional money, or fiat, so it can be withdrawn to a bank account or spent conventionally. Exchanges, brokers, and some payment platforms act as off-ramps, exchanging crypto for currencies such as dollars or euros. Like on-ramps, off-ramps generally require identity checks and may apply limits and fees, and the term describes the exit point from the crypto system rather than a specific asset.

A common misconception is that off-ramping is always immediate; settlement times, verification steps, and regional restrictions can affect how quickly funds reach a bank account.
