Gwei
Gwei is a small denomination of ether, the native currency of the Ethereum network, commonly used to express transaction fee prices. One ether equals one billion gwei, making gwei a convenient unit for the relatively small amounts involved in network fees. When users see a "gas price," it is frequently quoted in gwei.
A common misconception is that gwei is a separate coin; it is simply a subunit of ether, much as a cent is a fraction of a dollar. Fee levels quoted in gwei can rise and fall with network demand. This entry is educational and not financial advice.
